AGE IN PLACE.

The advantage of choosing the area’s only Personal Care and Memory Care community is that care evolves with each resident’s needs. For instance, a person receiving Personal Care may one day need memory support. At Charter Senior Living of Paducah, FlourishSM Memory Care is already in place. There’s no need for a disruptive, distressing move to another provider. This is a tremendous benefit to the resident and their whole family.

PERSONAL CARE VS. ASSISTED LIVING

The terms Personal Care and Assisted Living are often used interchangeably. However, there are distinct differences between the health services and the level of health care offered at Personal Care homes and Assisted Living facilities. Personal Care residents enjoy a higher level of assistance with their daily activities.

On-site caregivers that are available 24/7 provide family members with peace of mind, knowing their loved ones are taken care of.

As a licensed Personal Care community, we offer more advanced senior care than typical Assisted Living communities. Unlike other options, we provide a licensed nurse onsite 24/7. Most importantly, Charter Senior Living of Paducah offers a supportive environment that’s specially designed to enhance and maximize each resident’s sense of independent living.

Frequently Asked Questions

Personal Care vs. Assisted Living: What’s the difference?

The terms Personal Care and Assisted Living can often be used interchangeably. However, the main differences between Personal Care homes and Assisted Living communities are the health services and the level of health care offered.

Personal Care residents enjoy a higher level of assistance with their daily activities. 24/7 on-site caregivers provide family members with peace of mind knowing their loved ones are taken care of.

Who qualifies for Personal Care?

Seniors whose health or well-being requires a higher level of support or those who would benefit from a healthier lifestyle and social engagement qualify for Personal Care. Most communities conduct a health assessment that follows state regulations to determine what level of care or assistance is best for each individual.

What kind of services does Personal Care provide?

Personal Care communities give older adults personalized care in a residential setting. Most senior living options – including Personal Care Living communities – provide services that include:

  • One to three meals a day
  • Medication monitoring
  • Personal care, including dressing and bathing
  • Housekeeping and laundry
  • Some medical services
  • Social and recreational activities
  • Care coordination
  • Mobility assistance
  • Complimentary transportation

Some communities offer respite care or short-term stays. Additionally, some communities offer access to home care services for those who may need more assistance than is provided at the community but who are not yet ready for a skilled nursing care center.

What is the cost of Personal Care?

The Genworth Cost of Care Survey 2020 estimates the regional median monthly rate for Assisted Living is $4,263, which breaks down to around $140 per day. To put that into some context, the same survey says a private room in a nursing home will cost around $220 per day ($6,692 per month). Home health aide services average $144 per day.

Yes. During a Short-Term Stay, guests are provided with the same Personal Care services and amenities as permanent community residents.

Does medicare pay for Short-Term Personal Care home stays?

If outside services (such as rehabilitation) are needed during a resident’s Short-Term Stay in Personal Care, Medicare coverage would be available to qualifying patients.
